Every Thanksgiving, Meals on Wheels of San Francisco gives their regular delivery drivers a well-deserved day off. Instead, on Thanksgiving morning, hundreds of volunteers deliver hot turkey dinners, mini pumpkins pies, handmade placemats and gift bags to more than a thousand homebound seniors. This is a great volunteer opportunity for friends, individuals, couples and families. Children are welcome too! Volunteers deliver the meals in their own vehicles. Shifts are two to three hours long and start every 15 minutes between 8 am and noon on Thanksgiving Day. (The last shift ends at 2:00 p.m.) There will also be opportunities to assist at the office, or help with gift wrapping if you don’t wish to deliver or don’t have access to a car. Shifts are assigned and time slots fill up quickly, so please sign up early!
