Project Open Hand is a nonprofit organization that provides meals with love to seniors and the critically ill. Project Open Hand offers two types of volunteering before and on Thanksgiving Day: food prep or food delivery -- there are morning and afternoon food prep shifts, as well as a few different food delivery shifts before and on Thanksgiving day. Food prep shifts entail working in Project Open Hand's San Francisco kitchen to help slice, dice, chop, and peel all of the food that goes into meals for clients. The morning prep shift is from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and the afternoon prep shift is from 12:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Each shift includes an orientation and a complimentary lunch. Sign-up well in advance; Thanksgiving shifts fill up very quickly!
